[Solved] LiberKey update 5.5.1223 -> latest

Postby dampio » 11 November 2013, 17:52

Hi,

I just updated LibreOffice today and wanted to use it.
But I get a message from the LiberKey Portabilizer v2.0.379 saying (translated from the german message box):
You have to update LiberKey to start the application.
You can use LibreOffice after you installed the latest LibreKey update.

So I checked for a update via the LibreKey integrated check tool. It says:
No update found

But I know for sure, there is a update, because I am using Version 5.5.1223 and the latest one is 5.7.something.

So what is going wrong? Any ideas?
I aim to misbehave.

Oh and by the way:
I also tried to install the latest version manually. I downloaded it via this post:
http://www.liberkey.com/en/forums/support-en/liberkey-offline-patch-4696.html
Didn't work either... :-(
I aim to misbehave.

Hello and welcome on forums.
Not sure to know exactly what happens.
Have you try desactivate your firewall and your antivirus just during the update ?

Before trying apply the latest update manually, have you try apply all other updates before ?

Perhaps have you also a problem with your file version like here.

Can you send us your technical informations : LiberkeyTools => Configuration =>Technical Information then Copy this information to the clipboard and paste it in your reply.
In advance thanks.

I tried to install the updates manually. I downloaded them via the link from my second post.
Unfortunately I was not able to find the updates, between my version and the latest one. Is there a link?

Deactivating the Antivirus and the Firewall is not possible at the moment, because I am on my office PC atm. But I am using LiberKey for roundabout 2 - 3 years. And all other updates worked fine even in my office location.

But it seems like I face this version problem.
LiberKey - - de (1.01)
Root folder: Z:\LiberKey\
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (NT 6.1.7601) 32bits
Update channel: normal
Logs: OFF (Level: Error)
Antivirus: Trend Micro OfficeScan Antivirus, OnAccessScanning: enabled, Uptodate: yes
7-Zip - 9.20 - Installer\7z.exe
LiberKey Inst - 1.2.0.133 - Installer\LkInst.exe
KEY Files Assoc' - 1.8.0.34 - KeyFileAssoc\KeyFileAssoc.exe
LiberKey Menu - 5.5.0.27 - LiberKeyMenu\LiberKeyMenu.exe
LiberKey Portabilizer - 2.0.0.379 - LiberKeyPortabilizer\LiberKeyPortabilizer.exe
LiberKey Apps Closer - 1.0.0.33 - LKAppsClose\LKAppsClose.exe
Liberkey Apps Version Checker - 1.3.0.196 - LKAppsVCheck\lkAppsVCheck.exe
LiberKey Disk Ejector - 0.1.15 - LkDiskEjector\LkDiskEjector.exe
LiberKey USB Eject - 2.0.0.11 - LkDiskEjector\LkEject.exe
LiberKey Portable Desktop Shortcuts - 0.1.0.55 - PDS\PDS.exe
WAK - 1.0.13 - WAK.exe

The file version.ver is empty. Not really, but the complete content is Null (114 bytes).
Where can I find the correct content for this file?
I aim to misbehave.

Good evening.

Nice. It's seems problem is your version.ver .

Like Opendev explain here http://www.liberkey.com/forums/support-en/solved-update-problem-5040.html?p=30658&format=html&lang=fr#p30732 ; in Notepad or other text editor copy these lines in your version.ver :
Code: Select all
<LiberKeyVersion>
   <Version>5.5.1223</Version>
   <Patch>20120124132127</Patch>
</LiberKeyVersion>

Save it, then in Liberkey menu go to Liberkey Tools => Check for updates.
If it's OK you must seen that exist updates for your Liberkey menu.
Apply them and enjoy.

I changed the content of version.ver and afterwards started LiberKey. It directly opened a webpage, where it stated that I now run version 5.5.0124.
It also told me, that there are more updates I could run. And it said, that i successfully installed the update to 5.6.0124. So there seems to be something completely wrong.

LiberKey 5.5.1223 - 20120124132127 - de (1.01)
Root folder: Z:\LiberKey\
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (NT 6.1.7601) 32bits

KEY Files Assoc' - 1.8.0.34 - KeyFileAssoc\KeyFileAssoc.exe
LiberKey Menu - 5.5.0.27 - LiberKeyMenu\LiberKeyMenu.exe
LiberKey Portabilizer - 2.0.0.379 - LiberKeyPortabilizer\LiberKeyPortabilizer.exe
LiberKey Apps Closer - 1.0.0.33 - LKAppsClose\LKAppsClose.exe

I made it! :woohoo:

The patch version you suggested was wrong. This one is the correct one:
Code: Select all
<LiberKeyVersion>
<Version>5.5.1223</Version>
<Patch>20111223160000</Patch>
</LiberKeyVersion>

I manually had to update to 5.6.0124 and afterwards he automatically installed all the updates. Well... not really automatically. He just stated there is something new.
I now run the latest version and am able to use my LibreOffice again!

Thanks for the help!

In other words: keep your LBK always up to date ;-)

Another safe way to update your old LBK would be to get latest LBK from website, install the downloaded one over your old one (you keep your menu, settings, etc). Then install the latest patch.

True! The only problem is, I did not plan to not update my LBK. It just stop updating itself.

But who cares. It is working fine again now!
