[Bug Report] LiberKey restores mounted Truecrypt containers

Postby piepmeise » 25 September 2015, 14:29

All,

I found a potential security issue when using the Truecrypt app in LiberKey. When I have Truecrypt containers mounted and shut down the computer without dismounting, next time I start a LiberyKey app it asks to restore LiberKey apps which were running before. When I choose Truecrypt, it restores the previous session including the mounted containers without asking for any password.

You can avoid that by dismounting the containers before shutting down but if you have to safe your data quickly by shutting down your computer, unauthorized persons could access the data simply by restoring your Truecrypt session. Besides I assume the Truecrypt session data are stored somewhere and somehow by LiberKey, which may be an security issue by itself.

The problem may appear with Windows 10 only, I never noticed that on my Windows 7 system.

Hello,

Check that you have not configured TrueCrypt for auto-mounting.
Otherwise, it is impossible that the container will be re-opened itself after restarting the computer.
