[solved] Moved portable apps do not open (properly)?

Postby Dirki » 10 December 2014, 22:14

When I move / copy some portable apps, e.g. Thunderbird and want to open the program by clicking ThunderbirdLKL.exe this message appears - http://i.imgur.com/143eaUI.png - or \Thunderbird\App\thunderbird\thunderbird.exe a new Thuderbird is opened instead of the old one. When I open FreeCommander there are missing many bookmarks, icons of the custom toolbar.

How could I correct it?

You should NOT start "Thunderbird\App\thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" (if you want to keep your data) you always should start xxxLKL.exe

If you want to use portable application from Liberkey catalog but outside Liberkey environment, you have to copy LiberKeyPortabilizer folder in the application folder.

Many thanks, Dji.

If you want to use portable application from Liberkey catalog but outside Liberkey environment, you have to copy LiberKeyPortabilizer folder in the application folder.

So just copy this folder - I:\LiberKey\LiberKeyTools\LiberKeyPortabilizer - into this one: C:\Programme\Thunderbird
or this one: C:\Programme\Thunderbird\App\thunderbird
I assume, it is the last one.

Many thanks again

Hello,

If you want to use multiple applications outside the LiberKey, you can collect them in one folder and copy the Portabilizer next to them.

This will avoid to duplicate the Portabilizer for each application. ;)

Hello vagabond.

Do I understand it right, just copying I:\LiberKey\Apps\Thunderbird, I:\LiberKey\Apps\Firefox, I:\LiberKey\Apps\FreeCommander etc. and the folder "LiberKeyPortabilizer" in one single folder. That is it and so I can use all of those apps outside of LiberKey.

Many thanks.

Exactly.

Just keep in mind that doing this outside the Liberkey, the applications won't be automaticallly updated and files won't be associated to applications.

Oops, that is not that good. So I would have to copy all of the LiberKey folders (without the apps) to keep all of the functions running, I assume.

You have to start Liberkey.exe (which starts LiberkeyMenu which checks for updates and starts KFA - if set it up for doing it automatically at startup)
