Romanian Language Patch, not required and not installing..

Postby Farrukh » 16 November 2014, 11:18

Hi
Since this morning, liberkey forcing me to download and install Romanian Language Patch, which is not installing and giving error. Due to this, liberkey is not updating applications and so I'm not getting any updates.

My liberkey is in English, and so as my windows (win 7, x64). So why I'm being forced to download Romanian patch which is giving error continuously.

Although, I shutdown Liberkey and manually extracted files from .exe patch file (lbk_20141114055922_MultiLng.exe) and pasted in LiberKeyTools folder, but it never solved any problem.

Please see attached screenshot...

And here is my LiberKey version screen:

Kindly guide me what to do now....

Hello Farrukh,

This occurs because the patch, once having updated the platform, updates the file "LiberkeyTools\version.ver" (XML). For the current version, the node named "Patch" must contain <Patch>20141114055922</Patch>.
Did you had the same problem with the precedent patch ?
An antivirus is probably installed on your computer. Can you say us which one ?

Please post your LiberKey LinkTechnical information (LiberKey Tools >> Configuration >> Technical information) here. This can help us to help you.

Well, after struggling for some hours, I solved it in somewhat weird manner:

While patch was giving error message, I launched System Explorer (You can also use Process explorer). It would show Patch application launched by LiberKey.exe as a child process.

I simply restarted Patch process, so it was killed and restarted under System Explorer and it was able to patch the required files, buy shutting down the Liberkey.exe, apply patch and then restarted LiberKey.exe.

I think, as Patch application is launched as a child of Liberkey.exe main process, it is not able to shutdown its parent properly.

I will check the data you asked for and will post.

There is no restriction of this nature between a child and a parent process. The way you have solved the problem intrigues me..
The patch is supposed to close the menu before attempting to decompress files it contains. Does the menu was still open when the error appeared?

I think, liberkeyPortablizer remained in memory. However, I also do not understand this, because as I said before, I also tried by shutting down Liberkey.exe and then manually invoking the patch exe files.

I'm reached home and here is the technical info after patch update:

This is normal. The patch only closes the tools who have to be updated. The menu is closed because the languages files must be reloaded.

Maybe COMODO is very prudent with recents executables when they are not launched manually ? You'll can try this the next time we'll publish a patch... We have already seen problems occur when decompressing data with some antivirus.

Thank you for the technical informations.
